Treat lice effectively and naturally with clove essential oil
As a former teacher, I have had my dealings with head lice in school. It’s reality for all of us at some point. Especially those of us that have, or work with children. Parents often get a note from school that head lice have been detected. Moms and dads are then left with the burden of treating it. Check out how to treat lice effectively and naturally with Clove essential oil.
The odor of Clove essential oil was found to repel the human body louse Pediculus humanus corporis in a nonclinical, experimental study (February 2016). When placed in a petri dish with 50 microliters of Clove oil concentrated in one spot, the lice avoided the spot with the Clove oil.
They further found that two components of Clove oil, eugenol, and beta-caryophyllene, acted synergistically to repel the lice. The repellency of eugenol and beta-caryophyllene was much greater when the chemicals were used together instead of separately.
How to treat head lice
So after all that science talk, how do you practically use it? Simple! A few drops of clove spread out on the head (no more than 5) and a drop mixed with a drop of fractionated coconut oil on and behind the ears. Do not drop essential oils directly into the ear! Put a bottle of clove in your shower. When you wash your hair, drop 1-2 drops of clove on your hand with the shampoo or conditioner (whatever you do last) and rinse.
To effectively clean bedding and clothing, put 5 drops of Clove essential oil in your washing machine and on dryer balls or dryer sheets when washing and drying clothes and bedding. Clove oil is a far better, faster cheaper and non-toxic alternative to other lice treatment! Parents, do not let your child use this oil on their own. Supervised use is strongly recommended!
