Water is such an important part of a healthy lifestyle, but we understand that sometimes plain old water can sometimes be just that–plain and old. But, there’s an easy way to add flavor and interest to your water to make hydration more appetizing; infusing it with fruits, veggies, and essential oils. Infused water is providing you with the benefits of essential oils and in addition, it adds flavor and tastes delicious. Make sure when you put fruit in your water you wash it properly!
There has been a lot of controversy about the internal use of essential oils. It is completely safe when done properly! Essential oils are very powerful so 1-2 drops in an entire bottle of water are enough. I recommend shaking the bottle before you drink because the oil normally floats on top (oil and water do not mix), but when you shake it before you drink it you will break up the oils. Internal use of essential oils in water allows the oils to get to the stomach instead of being absorbed in the blood. This allows the oils to start acting better and faster!
We get a lot of questions from people regarding if they can drink essential oils in a plastic cup. While some high-grade plastics may be OK, glass is by far the best option. But, a glass water bottle can be a bit nerve-wracking to tote around, right? What if you or one of your children drop it? (Because that never happens.) Well, enter Glasstic. The folks at Glasstic have encased a glass water bottle in a shatterproof plastic sleeve and have given the lid a leak-proof locking mechanism. Oh, and did we mention they come in a myriad of colors and patterns?
I always put lemon, lime, orange, and grapefruit in my water along with fresh lemon, lime and often strawberries. So delish! What is your favorite combination of infused water? Come join our fun Facebook Community for more wonderful infused water recipes!
