When I started out in the direct sales business, I had a vision, and I work hard every day to work towards that vision and towards my goals that I have set for myself and for the business. I have a go-getter mindset. I know that I can do it, I know that I will do this, and I know I will get where I want to be. No question about it in my mind, but there seems to be a lot of doubt in other people’s mind.
That may be because they don’t believe in direct sales, or they have tried it and failed. For some reason they feel the need to bring you down, laugh at you, or tell you that this type of business doesn’t work. More often than not, people are envious that you dare to endure on such a journey and aim for financial freedom. It’s people’s (irrational) fear that stops them from reaching their full potential.
Sometimes it’s very hard to keep your spirit up when people around you are not supportive and sometimes downright discouraging. I have been laughed at many times. I have heard “no” more times than I can count, and I have walked against walls and closed doors enough to make my nose bleed (but I have an oil for that!). I have been rejected in very cruel and sometimes painful ways. And guess what? That is ok. That happens to everyone who encounters people who are either envious or fearful in some way.
The rejections actually taught me a lot about who people really are, and what kind of people I actually want to hang out with. It helped me define who I want to be as a person, who my customer is, and it encouraged me to refine my business strategy, which is resulting in the right people approaching me instead of me approaching them. It took me a while to learn and I am still learning, but the best lesson in life is when you fall off the horse, get hurt, look around you and grab all the tools available to you that you can use, buckle down and get back up on that horse.
Don’t let anybody break your spirit and distract you from your goals. Be attractive in your ways, be contagious, be positive, be encouraging, be fun! Keep your vision alive and your eyes on your goal. You got this, you can do this and you will get where you want to be. And when you do, and all those negative Nelly’s from the past start asking you how you did it, you can look back at them in the rear view mirror and give them a big fat wink 😉
