You can’t deposit excuses!
You can’t deposit excuses in the bank, can you? The reason you started a direct sales business and became and entrepreneur must have been because you want freedom. And freedom leads to happiness. Am I right? You are tired of your regular 9 to 5. Not to mention the fact that climbing up the ladder in your company seems fairly impossible and would take forever.
Ok, so someone came along and painting this picture of freedom for you and you feel the enthusiasm bubbling up from your toes and you sign up to start your own network marketing business and be wildly successful. Promises of financial freedom and the ability to spend your time travelling to white sandy beaches all over the world has you pumped up to the max. Your starter kit arrived and you are ready to launch!
You enthusiastically share your new business venture with all your friends and family, until they are annoyed to death with you. A few may be interested but most will start to avoid you because you’re not talking about anything but your business anymore. After a few months, you run out of people you know and things start to quiet down. Now what? Where are you going to find new leads and contacts to grow your business?
THIS is the reason why so many people in direct sales quit after about 18 months. That is about the time they run out of people they know and “warm contacts” as we call them. This is also the time where the excuses as to why you can’t move forward with your business ramp up faster than you can keep up with. There seems to be this idea that a direct sales business grows itself. Once you have a few people in place it will automatically keep growing.
Wake up call! Ding dong! It doesn’t! You need to nurture your team and help them grow. You need to set an example so your team can duplicate your example and with that your success (or lack thereof). A direct sales business is not a pyramid scheme. If you do this right, you can be extremely successful, but it takes effort. This is not a get rich quick business. This is hard work that requires excitement, commitment, and effort. However, the opportunities for growth and freedom are far greater than any regular 9 to 5 job.
Do you want to be successful in this business? Do you want the freedom that was promised to you when you started? Then it is time for you to stop making excuses and get to work. Create that success and freedom by giving it your best shot, and the universe will match your efforts.
In direct sales, we talk about push vs pull marketing. Rather than pushing your business onto people (which is why direct sales has such a bad reputation, to begin with) you need to find a way to make people come to you. Do you know why so many people resort to push marketing? Because direct sales companies do not provide any training whatsoever to teach you how to set up and run your business. You’re going to have to figure that out on your own.
Your upline and your direct sponsor in the company is supposed to help you, teach you and guide you in the process of starting and growing your business. I have a sponsor that started in the same week as me. Luckily she is also my bestie and we figure things out together as we go. Her sponsor is someone I see on a regular basis but from whom I have not received one ounce of support. Nothing. I have received some support from someone that is 5 levels above me. Video chats and calls and guidance in how and where I should get started.
The problem here is that they are a very tight group, living in Florida. They have meetings and classes every week and they all live within driving distance of each other. They are very hands on and do most recruiting in person. I live 8 hours away, I can’t drive down for a 2-hour meeting and then drive back home. In my area where I live, I don’t know many people so personal recruiting is not really an option for me. An online business was the way to go for me but I had no clue on how to do that. This means I had a million and one excuses to give up on this and not be successful because the odds were stacked against me.
I wanted the success and freedom that was promised to me. I realized I couldn’t deposit excuses in the bank. So I embarked on a journey to figure out how to start a successful online business. There are a plethora of options on the world wide web to learn how to be a successful entrepreneur. You may feel completely overwhelmed by all the information you can find, but my advice is to simply take bits and pieces of information that you think you can apply to your business and just use those and forget the rest.
I wanted to figure out how to properly get my social media ready to launch my business and how to get people to find me (pull marketing). Now, again, there are many, many options out there, but a few of them will peek your interest because they say or do something that really resonates with you and links in with your ideas on how to run your business.
That is when I found my social media bestie Brenda Ster from The Socialite Suite. Brenda was the top recruiter in Origami Owl for 2 years in a row and she has developed a social media training empire that is second to none. It is unlike any training I have seen before and when I walked in, I immediately knew I was in the right place for what I wanted with my business. I refer my entire downline to this particular website and her training all the time, and I highly recommend it for anyone who is in direct sales that wants to be successful.
Brenda provides social media training on every level you can imagine. When it comes to Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, blogging, epic Facebook parties, coaching calls on branding, business relationships, hostess coaching and everything else she provides, she is my go-to person for all of that. This website, my branding, and the success of my business is a result of Brenda’s constant coaching. She will tell you like it is, she genuinely cares for you, wants you to be successful and will give you some tough love when you need it. I now understand the direct sales business far better than I ever have and I now have the tools to be successful. Direct sales peeps, you really cannot afford not to go check her out!
So what did I do when I decided to put all the excuses aside? I decided to do whatever it takes to become successful in what I set out to do. More then ever, I became determined to reach my goals, one way or the other. I figured it out on my own. I found a place and a person that I really clicked with and I invested the time, effort and money in getting the right coaching and training for me. Brenda is guiding me and many, many other direct sales entrepreneurs on our way to success.
You have a choice, you can either make excuses left and right, throw barricades up and complain to the world how you are not successful and with that add to the direct sales reputation, or you can find what works for you, invest what you need to invest in order to learn the things you need to learn, so you can be one of the direct sales success stories. Nothing is going to happen when you sit down and complain. Like I said earlier, the universe will match your efforts. So go at it, give it all you’ve got, 110% all the time, invest in your business, grow and succeed!
You got this!
